Nottingham College had an Erasmus Programme with Karlsruhe for 4 successive years 2013-2017 & partnership with the Carl Hofer Schule from 2012 to now.
We have had 5 annual student visits to Karlsruhe involving over 60 FE students who have worked on collaborative art projects with peers from the Carl Hofer Schule & gained work placements with numerus artists, designers, architects, photograhers in Karlsruhe. Students have had residentials in the Black Forest, visited the sites of cultural & artistic interest and gained an understanding of the culture & values of Karlsruhe. On each visit the City Council have generously welcomed & supported staff & students & hosted Civic Receptions. The staff at the Carl Hofer Schule have worked enthusiastically to explore creative ideas with Nottingham College staff, both gaining invaluable knowledge & experience of different and similar educational ethos.
We have had immense support & wonderful hosting from Angelika Schmidt from the Karlsruhe Cultural Department over the years.
Staff exchange between Nottingham College & Carl Hofer Schule tutors are firmly established with lifelong friendships.
The attached info from 2015 2016, 2017 gives a flavour of the 2013-2017 Creative Enterprise Scholarships which were run & had over 60 participants & funded by the Erasmus Scheme. From 2015-17 Nottingham Contemporary also provided support in the preparation of our participants & was a hosting venue for the Creative Launches & pop up exhibitions.
The future/current project to celebrate 50 years of friendship is a photographic collaboration between students at both Nottingham College & Carl Hofer Schule to document the daily lives of people age 10-50years (spanning the twinning) & present them as a photographic exhibition in October.
